New Anthem Extras Packages for California
Anthem has recently launched their new Dental, Vision, and Fitness packages for California. These “Extras” packages are designed to complement your Medicare Supplement Plan. You do not need to be enrolled in an Anthem Medicare Supplement to take advantage of these plans! The packages can be purchased year round, and require no underwriting.
Many seniors do not have dental or vision coverage, and often don’t know where to begin to obtain coverage. Anthem has made it easy and affordable, with three packages to choose from. Dental and vision health are an important aspect of overall health and well being. Medicare doesn’t cover dental or vision, unless it is a medically necessary service such as cataract surgery. Standard Medicare Supplements do not cover dental or vision either.
Anthem Extras Packages come in three options, with an additional Premium Plus “dental only” option.

Standard Extras Package $23
- Preventive dental coverage with a maximum annual benefit of $500.
- Vision Exam -$20 copay
- Lenses and Frames (or contacts) every 24 months
- $23 monthly premium
Premium Extras Package $44
- Extended Dental coverage with a maximum annual benefit of $1000
- Annual Vision Exam – $20 copay
- Lenses and Frames (or contacts) every 24 months
- Silver Sneakers Fitness Membership Included (at participating locations)
- $44 monthly premium
Premium Plus $63
- Comprehensive Dental with a maximum annual benefit of $1250
- Annual Vision Exam -$10 copay
- Lenses and Frames (or contacts) every 24 months. Higher frame allowance of $130
- Silver Sneakers Fitness Membership Included (at participating locations)
- Medical Emergency Assistance for Traveling
- $63 monthly premium
Dental Only $47
If you prefer dental only, the comprehensive Premium Plus Dental is available for $47.
